How to Download X (Twitter) Videos on iPhone

What you need

An iPhone with iOS 15 or later and Safari. Nothing to install: the download happens in the browser, and the file is saved by iOS itself.

The post must be public. Videos from protected accounts, and some age-restricted posts, can't be downloaded by any web tool because X doesn't serve them publicly.

Step by step

The whole process takes about thirty seconds once you've done it once.

1. 1In the X app, find the post with the video and tap the Share icon (the arrow in a box).
2. 2Tap Copy link. You'll see a short confirmation at the bottom of the screen.
3. 3Open Safari and go to savelark.com/twitter-video-downloader.
4. 4Tap the box at the top, tap Paste (or long-press and choose Paste), then tap Download.
5. 5Pick a quality. 720p is a good balance of sharpness and file size; choose 1080p or higher for the best picture.
6. 6Safari asks whether to download the file. Tap Download. A small arrow appears in the address bar while it saves.
7. 7Open the Files app › Downloads, tap the video, then tap Share › Save Video. It now appears in Photos.

Choosing the right quality

X stores several versions of every video. We list all of them, so you can trade size for sharpness. A one-minute clip is usually around 2–4 MB at 360p, 5–10 MB at 720p and 15–30 MB at 1080p.

If you plan to repost the clip or watch it on a large screen, take the highest quality. For sending in a chat, 720p is plenty and uploads faster.

If something goes wrong

"We couldn't find that post": the post was deleted, or the link is incomplete. Copy the link again from the Share menu rather than from the address bar.

"This post is private, protected or age-restricted": the account is protected or X limits who can see the post. There's no workaround for this; only the author can share it.

The video plays instead of downloading: you tapped the video preview, not the Download button. Use the buttons listed under the preview.

Nothing in Photos: iOS saves web downloads to the Files app first. Remember the last step, Share › Save Video.

Respect the creator

Saving a clip to watch later is one thing; re-uploading someone else's video as your own is another. Keep downloads for personal use unless you own the video or have the creator's permission, and credit them when you share.
