How to Get a Spotify Album Cover in Full Size

Why the cover in the app looks small

Spotify shows covers at 640 pixels at most, which is plenty for a phone screen but blurry as a desktop wallpaper, a print or a playlist thumbnail you design yourself.

Behind that, Spotify keeps the original file the label delivered. For many releases that's 2000×2000 pixels; older ones can be 1400 or 1500. The Original button gives you that file, untouched.

Step by step

Works on phones and computers.

1. 1In Spotify, tap the three dots next to a song or album.
2. 2Tap Share, then Copy link.
3. 3Open savelark.com/spotify-cover-downloader in your browser.
4. 4Paste the link and tap Download.
5. 5Tap Original for the full-size JPG, or 640px for a lighter copy.

Playlists and artists

Playlist and artist links work too, but their images are only stored at 640 pixels, so that's the largest size available.

For a song, the cover is the album's cover. Songs on the same album share one image.

What about the music?

Songs also come with Spotify's official 30-second preview as an MP3, the same clip Spotify plays in previews and embeds.

Full songs can't be downloaded. Spotify encrypts its music with DRM so it only plays inside the Spotify app, and sites claiming to download Spotify songs are really finding a copy somewhere else, usually YouTube, and handing you that.
